Vice President of Product Adam Mosseri has been appointed as the new head of Instagram after Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger (the Instagram founders) resigned from their designation according to reports. “We are thrilled to hand over the reins to a product leader with a strong design background and a focus on craft and simplicity — as well as a deep understanding of the importance of community,” the founders wrote. “These are the values and principles that have been essential to us at Instagram since the day we started, and we’re excited for Adam to carry them forward.”
Adam Mosseri has been carrying a rich experience in the product and engineering since last ten years and carries a strong background in operations and engineering. Adam was earlier the Vice President of Product Management in Facebook and now has been appointed for the post of Vice President of product of Instagram.
Instagram COO Marne Levine who led Facebook partnership last month and James Everingham engineering leader who was a part of the Facebook’s block chain team in May would be recruited as a new executive team.
Instagram’s product director Robby Stein is held strongly for his role as he has been into Stories, feed, Live, direct messaging, camera and profile.
Adam Mosseri started his career as a designer, organized his own consultancy and then collaborated with Facebook team in 2008.
He moved to product management from design, and then worked on Mobile then news Feed and lately joined Instagram.
As a VP of product Development of Instagram, he will look onto all the roles, responsibilities and functions of different departments and will recruit a new executive team, consisting a head of engineering, head of product and head of operations.
“We remain excited for the future of Instagram in the coming years as we transition from being leaders at Instagram to being just two users in a billion,” the co-founders said.
Instagram was carried out by Facebook for $ 1 Billion in 2012.
